CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The purpose of this post is to assist the Deputy Director: Bibliographic Services by managing and administering the Electronic Resources Management Section of the Department.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Assisting the Deputy Director with strategic direction and management of the department in relation to all campuses.
  • Ensuring that library services meet the electronic resources needs of students on all campuses.
  • Directing the operations of the ERM section.
  • Manages and administers online subscriptions.
  • Manages and administers the Millennium / Sierra ERM module.
  • Directing and managing the section’s human resources.
  • Establishes and maintains E-Resources Access.
  • Assist in managing the section’s budget, financial resources and assets.

CORE COMPETENCIES

 
  • Knowledge of an Electronic Resources Management module, in particular the Millennium/Sierra Integrated Library System.
  • Experience of working with vendors and have negotiating skills.
  • Experience of managing Electronic Resource Budgets in a tertiary academic library.
  • Experience in creating management information reports from the ERM module and vendor databases.
  • Experience in writing clear and concise reports to management to report on problem areas and motivate for funding when required.
  • Experience of electronic database license agreements and how to deal with them.
  • The ability to work in a workgroup consisting among others of ERM staff and Information staff to plan for new resources and cancelling of existing resources.
  • Conflict management skills.
 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

M+4 (Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science)

3-5 years relevant and / or working experience in an electronic resources environment in an academic library.
